Longs Peak Campground is located about 20 minutes south of Estes Park on Hwy 7. This small, tents-only campground is forested and at a fairly high elevation, 9,500′ (2,896m).
Because it is within walking distance of the Longs Peak Trailhead (where parking can be tricky to find), Longs Peak Campground is popular with hikers planning an ascent of Longs Peak.
There are 26 tent sites available. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, vault toilets (no showers), and access to potable water. If camping in spring or fall, the water may be shut off.
Firewood is available for purchase. For other purchases, you’ll need to head to Estes Park. Pets are allowed in campgrounds, but not on trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. The campground is closed in the winter.
This campground is a good choice if you: want to stay in the National Park, are planning a hike on the Longs Peak Trail, prefer campgrounds with no RVs.
Note: there is no cell phone reception here, but there is an emergency phone at the ranger station.
