Kind Coffee is definitely a local’s hangout, with really good coffee–entirely Fair Trade and organic–that is roasted locally. There is also a decent tea and baked goods selection, plus lots of great gift items, such as store-themed merchandise and funky purses.
The building is bright and airy, with lots of comfy seating at tables or on sofas. There is also patio seating along the Riverwalk. Grab a book at the Little Free Library or use the free Wi-Fi, and you can spend the whole afternoon.
Our only beef with Kind Coffee is that, despite the fact that it’s a local’s coffee shop, it’s never felt like home. The baristas can be a bit aloof, and they never seem to recognize us, no matter how many times we go in. Which is the exact opposite of our experience at the Starbucks just a half block away. Go figure.
