Seven Keys Lodge (formerly The Baldpate Inn) is an Estes Park treasure, popular with both locals and tourists alike. Built in 1917, it retains all of its original charm, from the cozy fireplace to the amazing porch, and the outdoor theater to the sun porch dining room. Black and white photos cover the walls, as well as old snowshoes, lamps, and other touches befitting a mountain inn. And did we mention it’s the home of the world’s largest key collection?
In the Key Room, keys cover every available surface, and are tagged with the name of the key’s donor. Some of the more interesting keys include the key to Frankenstein’s Castle and a key to the Pentagon.
As locals, we haven’t stayed in many of the lodges around town, but this is one we choose to stay in when we just need to get away from reality for a while.
They feature both lodge rooms and cabins, and they have a fantastic soup and salad buffet that’s topped off by homemade pies. If you’re looking for luxury, you won’t find it here, but you will find authentic, unique, antique rustic charm.
Guests can enjoy the library with books and games, live theater, a small gift shop, and the amazing front porch, with hummingbirds galore.
Seven Keys Lodge is located a few miles south of Estes Park on Highway 7, just across the road from Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. The Inn is closed in winter.
