Safeway Bakery is not our first choice for baked goods, not because the food is particularly bad, but because this Safeway may be the busiest grocery store on the planet. Rumor has it that it’s the busiest Safeway in Colorado, if not the U.S. Unless you go at 7 a.m., it will almost certainly be busy, at least in the summer. (There is a Starbucks in the store too, so a 7 a.m. visit may not be a bad idea…)
As for the baked goods, they are about what you’d expect from a grocery store bakery. Not terrible, but not to die for, either. They offer a decent assortment of both birthday and wedding cakes, ice cream cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, donuts, and other desserts.
If you have a big event, you should definitely plan on ordering what you need at least a week in advance. If you’re just throwing together a low key celebration at the last minute, they’ll probably have something that will work for you.
Don’t forget the ice cream and the drinks!
