Fajita Rita’s is a new offering in town, started by a Texas couple who moved to Estes Park and missed the good Tex-Mex food they had at home.
Seeing as how some of us are from Texas, we were pretty excited when they opened up. We wish we could say we were as excited after having eaten there. The food was just… okay. The chips were clearly not homemade, which is a mortal sin for a Mexican restaurant, in our book. Things went downhill from there, and the service was somewhat brusque.
Others we know have tried it and have had a good experience. We’re going to chalk it up to “new restaurant jitters” and try it again once summer’s calmed down.
They do have a good beer selection and the margaritas were good.
(This restaurant used to be called Grumpy Gringo, and our favorite joke was that “there’s a reason the gringo is grumpy…” The food was generally blah. We’re kinda going to miss that joke.)
